My son has a few newly diagnosed food allergies– peanuts, tree nuts and oats (I have never heard of anyone being allergic to oats!). We always wondered why his face would break out so much more at the center than it did at home. Oops, it was the Cheerios they served for snack.

We are fortunate that they are very mild and mostly present themselves as a rash.  We are eliminating all the heroallergens from his diet as best as we can and that means no more Mighty Bites (Cue horror music here Dun Dun Duuuuuun).  My son has been known to eat 3 bowls of this oat based cereal for breakfast alone. Anytime he was asked what he wanted for snack, Mighty Bites. Dinner? Mighty Bites. Breakfast? You guessed it, Mighty Bites. The day after visiting the doctor, guess what he asked for for breakfast? When he was given Rice Chex (gasp!), he whined, “other one, other one”. That day while he was at the center, I had to take the cereal out of the box and recycle it so we wouldn’t have to go through the same thing every morning.

I spent a good 15 minutes in the cereal aisle at Whole Foods, trying to find an all natural alternative. I came up empty handed. Everything I saw was either made with oats or processed in a plant with peanuts and/or tree nuts.  Can anyone help me find another “other one”?
