DIY Holiday Card Display: Washi Tape Christmas Tree
I’ve been looking for a new way to display Christmas cards in our house. We used to tack them to our bulletin board, but over past few years we’ve been getting so many more photo cards that it quickly became inadequate. I wanted something temporary that required no holes or hooks or damage to our walls. I decided washi tape was the solution.
For those of you who don’t know, washi tape is a kind of Japanese paper tape that comes in every imaginable color and pattern. The stuff is awesome. My family is doing a “green Christmas” this year (all gift wrapping paper needs to be made from recycled materials) so for the presents we’re giving, I decided to go with newspaper jazzed up with bakery twine and festive washi tape. As a result, I’ve got lots of red and green washi tape lying around so, with some inspiration from this washi tape tree, I decided to make our own. The whole thing took me about 15 minutes to put together and beauty of it is I can add another layer to the bottom of the tree as we get more cards.
