My Favorite Father’s Day Memory
Happy Father’s Day!
Personal holidays, like Father’s Day, tend to surface fond memories of family traditions, spending time with our own dads, and the very special moments from past holidays that we never forget. Do you have a favorite Father’s Day memory or moment that you cherish?
We asked dads – family members of our own Family Room bloggers – to share their favorite Father’s Day memories.
Dads’ Favorite Father’s Day Memories & Celebrations
Growing up, I loved to spend time with my father on the golf course. We would always try to play a quick nine holes on Father’s Day, along with a friend and his father. While Liam is still a little young to get on the course, this is a tradition I would like to start up in a few years. In the meantime, we can practice our swings in the backyard with Liam’s toy clubs. – Brad (Kate‘s husband)
Looking back, I don’t really remember doing anything special with my own dad on Father’s Day as a child. In a way, that makes me kind of sad. As we (my sister and I) got older, we would always seem to gather and maybe go out to dinner. He has since passed – just before my own first Father’s Day as a dad. Maybe that is why I like the tradition of going hiking with my kids on Father’s Day – creating memories together that they can look back on and maybe pass down to their own kids. – Brian (Amy‘s husband)
Hard to say. I enjoyed last year (2013) a lot. We started the day with a Pirate’s Cruise around Boston Harbor with my father-in-law, brother-in-law and his family. It surprised me and I really enjoyed it and loved how much the kids enjoyed it and got into it. Then we ended the day with our annual tradition of celebrating with my family at my sister’s house. An easy way of being able to celebrate together and make sure we celebrate with our own Dad as well. – Rob (Mary‘s husband)
Visiting Fenway Park and walking the field with my daughter. – Todd (Heather‘s husband)
To all of the amazing dads in our Bright Horizons family, we wish you a very happy Father’s Day! We hope you’re making lots of new memories today that you’ll hold onto for a lifetime.
