Summer Vacation Memories: Our Favorite Family Trips

Amy: Our favorite family vacation is to head out into nature. Because both my husband and I work in an office setting, we spend far less time outside than we would prefer. So we tend to spend vacation time in nature – hiking, kayaking, biking in the summer and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. Our dream is to get to more National Parks in the years to come.

Kids running on the beachKate: I love relaxed family vacations where there isn’t much on the agenda. I’m a planner by nature so having a week or even a few days where there are no errands to run and no particular place to be ends up being a really nice change of pace for all of us, no matter where we are.

Mary: I enjoy going away with other families. We’ve been to Aruba with college friends, Marco Island, FL with my sisters and Sanibel Island, FL with friends. This allows us to spend quality time with our children but also gives them other kids to play with so we can relax. We’re already planning another trip with friends for next spring!

Caty: My most memorable family vacations have always involved low key time being spent on the beach. Regular life is so hectic…it’s nice to unwind with good conversation, a good book and some time outside in the sun.

Media Mom: We head north. We love to go to Maine as much as we can over the summer. Last year we enrolled our kids in some classes with a Conservation Trust up in Maine, and that was fantastic. They built bird houses, went letter boxing, and created fairy houses.
