#SocialParenting: Bright Horizons Gives Back
Among all of the great classroom activities, news pieces and parenting resources shared across the Bright Horizons social media channels each day, perhaps our very favorite stories to highlight are those that showcase Bright Horizons children, families and employees giving back to their communities. We are continuously in awe of the great work our Bright Horizons family and friends do each and every day to make the lives of others around them better. Not only is our Bright Horizons family giving back, but they are also regularly teaching children about the importance of social responsibility, helping others, and making the world a better place.
Here are just a few examples of the wonderful things our Bright Horizons family has been doing lately. Be sure to follow along with Bright Horizons on Facebook and on Twitter to see more great examples of Bright Horizons giving back.
Bright Horizons Children, Families & Employees Give Back
The Academy at Bright Horizons (Encinitas, CA) recently held “Pink Day” to support the spread of awareness for breast cancer treatment and research. The children learned that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and that this disease affects millions of people. The students also learned that the best way to prevent cancer or any disease is to make healthy eating and fitness choices. The children from this class were featured as a Bright Horizons Classroom of the Week on Facebook. Congratulations and great job!
Bright Horizons President and COO, Mary Ann Tocio, along with several Bright Horizons employees, recently supported Horizons for Homeless Children at their 16th Annual Women’s Breakfast in Boston, MA. Horizons for Homeless Children is an organization whose mission is to improve the lives of young homeless children and help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. It was an amazing event put on to support a fantastic community organization.
Bright Horizons centers in the New York City area worked together to create a place for families to relax and play outdoors at Gloria’s House in the Bronx, NY. Gloria’s House is a transitional family residence that provides 105 homeless families (with about 275 children) a temporary place to stay. The resulting space created by the group is beautiful and will be enjoyed by many. Check out the before and after photos:
