World’s Longest Road Trip…Help!
We’re getting ready for our annual trip to Canada for a week of visiting with the grandparents, fishing, blueberry picking, swimming, and other Norman Rockwell-esque recreation. Sounds great…and hopefully it will be, but if “getting there is half the fun,” we may be in for trouble.
The price of plane tickets has skyrocketed to $1000 a person. If I’m going to spend $5000 on airfare, I want to deplane somewhere more glamorous than Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, so we’re gassing up the minivan and hitting the road. Only problem is we’re looking at 22ish hours each way. And we’re still trying to potty train my 3-year-old. And the kids go crazy after 1 hour in the car. And they drive me crazy after 20 minutes in the car. And there’s no way we’re going to make it without pounds of junk food, which means I may as well go off my diet now in anticipation.
Please let me know if you have any tips or advice as we plan this “adventure.” Any ideas that may help preserve our collective sanity would be most welcome.
