Acting awards have little to do with the things most of us do on a daily basis (oh to have craft services!).
But Ryan Gosling (bless his tuxedo-clad heart) spoke for working parents everywhere when he thanked Eva Mendes for taking care of the couple’s children (among other responsibilities) while he was working.
“While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I ever had on a film,” the Golden Globe winner for La La Land told the audience, “my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer.”
We may not all be Ryan Goslings, Eva Mendes, or, heaven knows, Golden Globe winners. But there’s a statement we can relate to – a reminder that no matter how big a stage you’re playing on, you still need the same thing we all need…help with the family. And those of us without a full-time spouse/caregiver at home would express the same gratitude to the people who care for our children.
Any of us who go to work every day know that to do our jobs, we all need a little help from our friends.
And caregivers rule.
